God, please give us wisdom, and yes, courage to feel sympathy, not glee, when someone we dislike encounters trouble. Help us refrain from celebrating the misfortune of others, even when we feel that it is deserved. Instead, give us compassionate hearts so that we might faithfully follow the footsteps of your Son.
Small deeds of goodness in the aftermath of trouble. like fireflies flickering against a dark sky, can blanket the world with sparkling lights.
